As the support institution for the Groupement Hospitalier de Territoire (GHT) Loiret, CHR d’Orléans has called on Enovacom to implement an interoperability platform across its group of hospitals.

The project has multiple objectives. Firstly, it aims to create a unique interoperability platform that allows small and medium-sized healthcare facilities to be provided with software which they could not otherwise afford .

Secondly, the platform also centralizes information on patients who visit several institutions within a hospital group.

Lastly, it provides group member organizations with the best possible governance and security for all  their business applications.

“This interoperability platform is dedicated to all the institutions in a hospital group and is composed of three Enovacom interoperability engines. Each one is dedicated to a different type of data flow, based on their degree of importance and security. All we have to do is create connectors to link the entities together around a single information system (IS).”

Axel Michaud, Project Manager at Enovacom

A preliminary audit to start the project

To create the architecture that will host this central platform, Enovacom staff worked with CHT d’Orléans to conduct an audit of the needs of each organization. Michaud explains:

“We made a list of all the connectors already in the healthcare facilities to determine the best way to connect them all  together. We also undertook an inventory to assess the requirements of future servers and to identify the right storage and RAM capacity.”

Adjustments to be made to communicate with the Pastel PAM

CHR d’Orléans is equipped with MiPih’s PAM Pastel. This proved an extra challenge for the Enovacom team, which had to innovate to connect this application to its interoperability platform.

“Pastel does not generate interoperability flows (HL7) directly, but rather databases. We set up connectors that allow us to create files from the databases at regular intervals, so that we can retrieve them and then send them to our interoperability platform via secure HL7 flows.”

To comply with the latest legal requirements, all the flows respect the new National Health Identifier (NHI) standard. As the pilot institution in this project, the CHR d’Orléans is now seeing every one of its flows conform to this new security standard.
